Anyone tried a new MZA/BVF carb ?

We all know the cheap pattern clones are crap but has anyone tried a new MZA/BVF carb ? Were they made to the original drawings and do they perform well ?

My brother has the 30n2.5 copy. But it ran wildly rich and had flat spot too. In the end I told him to put the jets and needle from his old original carburettor (slide leaks) into the repoduction one and it seems to perform just as well as an original. Metal is a bit soft ie slide stop but like I say with original jets it was okay. It might be worth buying new old stock jets from MZ-B like I did with my original 30n3.

Was his actually BVF branded, or just a 'pattern part' ? The one I am considering is a BVF branded item produced by MZA (who apparently bought up the remains of the simpson factory and the drawings etc when MZ closed). For this reason I have some hope it might be better than the unbranded china ones. Anyway, I will find out and report back soon as I have taken the plunge and ordered one.........

If it is branded it should be fine. Though official MZ carburetors do seem to wear much more than Japanese. I'm still using my original carburetors with (as far as i'm aware) original jets etc with 75k miles on. Fuel consumption has gone up in the last 20k miles though so I might renew these parts soon in an attempt to gain back economy (expensive though).

But, coming back to the original question if they're official BVF branded then I'm sure they're fine, especially if they really are unused (check for wear on the slide and tube). Yes my brother's was the unbranded cheap thing.

BVF is just a brand name, that was registered by MZA after the end of the GDR.
So it has nothing to do with the original BVF company.
Nevertheless the MZA carbs are far better than the other reproductions.
