transmission kill sensor??

Just got a 1995 Skorpion. It starts and runs fine, then you stop for fuel or whatever and it starts fine but when you engage first gear all power shuts down. After while all is well until you stop then same thing happens. Any ideas as to the problem?

Maybe a faulty kick stand safety switch? That's the only thing that should kill the engine when you shift it out of neutral that I can think of right now.

If you don't want to replace it just cut the two wires and twist then together and ci=over with a bit of electric tape.

That said I have a few of these switches in my spares pile.

Couldn't agree more. The one on my Skorpion hasn't gone wrong yet but I am aware that it is only a matter of time. They collect crud from engine and road, the one fitted to my Cagiva was suspiciously similar and I eventually took it off. Just don't leave the side stand down ! DAMHIK !!

the side stand switch controls the main relay 19 0n the 125cc bikes and relay 30 on 660 engine bikes

the oem relay is too small and it carries all the power for the whole bike except main power for starting

If the relay is too small then should it be changed for a bigger capacity one?

this relay can be replaced with one from a car parts store
but all the associated diodes and switches need to be in working order

this relay is a major cause of many people hauling a bike home
