1995 MZ ETZ 251 SAXON VE

Postby mark 101 » Wed Apr 15, 2015 3:39 pm

Hi everyone.

I've just purchased a delightful blue MZ etz 251 Saxon, mz being something I had my eye on as a young boy.

Well I have finally got one, very well cared for as the previous owner was a member of the constabulary.

The 1 major fault is the front caliper. Someone unknown has tried to free the seized pistons with what I can assume was a chisel and lump hammer.

Suffice to say that it is not recoverable.

I've heard that some BMW R and K series calipers will fit but thought it prudent if I asked on here first, I never know someone might have a caliper lurking in the corner of their garage.

Fingers crossed that one of you wise sages will come up with an answer one way or the other.

Many thanks for reading my post.

Try KGS MZ parts. kev is a top bloke and breaks MZ's to help keep others alive. http://mzmotorcyclespares.yolasite.com

He isn't to bad with prices and rebuilding the calliper is easy enough if you need to do that. I've done a couple, just watch for the usual seized pistons and bolts etc.. heat and patience is your friend. Looking for the BMW version of the brake can prove expensive.. anything bmw related carries a premium! And make sure you only buy a right hand side part.if you go the BMW route, i believe Moto Guzzi used same calliper as well on some models. its a Brembo calliper rebadged for MZ.
