Baghira Carb Drain O-Ring / Teikei Parts Fiche?

Postby Dirt » Tue Apr 07, 2015 4:31 pm

Hi Folks,

Over the winter, I got overly ambitious and drained the 4NN(?) Teikei carb on my Baghira using the screw on the bottom of the bowl.

I fully removed the screw to clean it and now, upon reassembly, the carb drain leaks. Lovely.... I don't have a parts fiche for the carb and and I'm guessing there was an O-ring that did not survive the journey. Doh!

Anybody have a parts fiche for this carb and/or a part number for this O-ring? Any good source to order this (ideally in the U.S.)?

Thanks!!!

Hmmm... if the drain screw doesn't have an o-ring, any idea why it's leaking or how to stop it?

It was fine before I took the damn thing out, now it won't stop leaking and I'm pretty sure I'm seating it --- but maybe there's something jammed in there preventing it from seating?

Could be some crud or grit stopping it sealing

If you dont want to take off the carbs, try draining some petrol through it with the drain screw out.

Otherwise a bodge could be to use some plumbers ptfe tape, the white thin stuff they use for thread sealing, but a bit round the end maybe.

Taking off the carbs is a PITA due to tight clearance-- have done it twice already and would definitely prefer not. If there is no O-ring, I'll try just opening it up to flush it and then reinserting the screw. If that doesn't work, will try PTFE tape (for Propane and natural gas might be a little more resistant).

Without a microfiche, I wasn't sure if I lost an o-ring or not. If there is one, will try flushing/blowing the hole out.

Thanks for the help!
