ETZ 301 gear change return spring

Postby martynn » Mon Oct 13, 2014 10:39 am

Hi, this is my first MZ, so if I'm asking a stupid question, please bear with me...
Just bought an ETZ 301 with a broken gear lever return spring. My questions are: do I have to remove the clutch and the generator rotor to be able to the split the cases, and get at the return spring? Special tools required? Difficult job?
Thanks for your help

Hi Martynn,
While the 301 motor is not my forte, but pretty sure clutch and definitely primary driven gear would, need to come off.

I would think in the least you need the clutch tool ( check out fleabay or places like the mz shop), and a case splitter.
Download the original manual, I think it explains how to build a tool. Alternatively they can be had on fleabay :-D .

Finally, YouTube has a video on the etz it really is priceless.

Hope this helps,
Nik
