Registering a MZ

Postby mattsccm » Thu Oct 02, 2014 11:24 am

Hi. after a few years off playing with CCM's its time to go MZ again. A mate has offered me a family treasure but there are issues. No V5 as that has been lost in several house moves and deaths and no number plate for the same reason. I have a frame and engine number.
DVLA can issue (eventually) a V5 with a reg number but the trail of what's possible goes blank at this point. Can I use the numbers I have to identify the reg number. Is there an approved authority, for example, that can provide evidence that the DVLA will accept?
Ta for any ideas.

any pictures in the family archives of the bike and its number plate may help
find who's name it reg in
and get the heir to that person sign off on its transfer

No pics.
If I had the number I could get the V5. No number is the problem.

As you say, all you need to know is the reg. no., and then you should be able fill in a V55 or whatever it is, pay your £25 and get a replacement V5C. It should be possible for the DVLA to find the reg. based on the frame number, but whether it is or not, I'm pretty sure they won't. I wonder whether you'd be able to get a HPI check based on the frame number?
