My '98 Sport had a short somewhere, a scary amount of smoke and some wires are now melted, whilst I was working on ignition problems.
I'm in Perth, Western Australia. I was thinking of ordering a replacement loom from
Grahams in the UK but saw this thread and the advice to pick up a car loom.
As I'm somewhat unimpressed by the original wiring, this seemed like very good advice and probably cheaper.
So, firstly, THANKS for bringing this option to my attention.
Secondly, before I start ringing around salvage yards, are there any particular types of cars or words I should use to describe the looms?
I'm also strongly considering buying an electrical-rated fire extinguisher because for a few nasty seconds I thought the whole bike was about to go up.
Are people bored with rebuild pictures or is it worth me documenting this in detail and putting it up somewhere on the web?
The most frustrating thing about this is that two years ago I was living in a house with a great locked garage space for working on the the bike and now I'll have to do it in an exposed carport. The sin of deferred maintenance!
thanks
Andy
