We all do it.
I've just bought back a Saxon 301 that I sold a few years ago. Went away MOT'd and taxed, came back with neither plus an oil leak, worn out brakes, duff electrics and rust around the stand mount. My last ETZ250 I owned twice, I sold it as an MOT'd and taxed runner having ridden it to Emmenrausch in 2009, it came back in boxes with some bits missing in 2013. Now it's gone to Lancashire, so I probably won't own that one again.
My first 251 went away out of MOT and needing tyres and came back six months later with an extra 100 miles on the clock, new tyres and a new MOT. Some you win, some you lose.
I get as much pleasure fixing them up as much as I enjoy riding them to be honest, so enjoy getting them back on the road and passing them on. So long as I don't lose a stack of cash on the deal, I look upon it as a hobby and as hobbies go, it doesn't cost a lot.
Have I ever really regretted selling one? No.
Are there any I should have really kept? Yes.
