Hi, after a long break from MZs I am currently resurrecting a Saxon Tour 301. It appears to have been thrown together with parts from whatever was at hand. The only part I hadn't stripped was the forks and I soon found out what a mistake that was. The 'clonking' noise later discovered was found to be springs differing in length by 3/4 inch. The crank was ruined (spun clutch), clutch centre ruined, most nuts in the engine were loose (hence ruined 68 tooth gear wheel), silencer falling apart internally, oil pump had a broken shaft (apparently, an attempt had been made to glue it back on), etc, etc. Shares in Ost2rad must be doing very well!

Anyway, after browsing on here for a while I find I have answers to some of the technical questions so thought it was time to join.

Welcome from sunny Lancashire. Sounds like the bike should be called Lazarus  . Good luck with it. The 301 Saxon is a pleasure to ride.
