Left hand crankcase cover removal.

Postby millhouse mark » Wed Jul 09, 2014 7:38 am

I want to remove the left hand crankcase cover as it appears when the oil levels are correct I have a leak on the joint chucking oil over the back end. Removed all screws, kickstart & gear lever, clutch cable but the case will only come out about 6mm then sticks. I am reluctant to use force; am I missing the obvious?

Regards

I'm guessing it's a 250/300 of some type going by your description of where the parts are located.

If so, put the kickstart back on now before you take the cover off.

You need to remove the bolt from the end of the crankshaft, under the circular clutch cover which is held on with three screws.

You'll need something to lock the engine (a rope down the plug hole) and a 22mm deep socket to get the nut off. The cover then pulls off easily.
