Hi from Norfolk, UK

Postby jimmy55 » Mon Jun 30, 2014 7:48 am

Hello from another Newbie living by the sea in North Norfolk UK. I've just added to my long list of project bikes a 1988 ETZ300. It looks a bit of a wreck but underneath isnt really too bad ( I could be proved wrong with time!) I'm a bit puzzled where the ETZ300 fits in the history. I've seen the UK converted Wilf Green ones but mine doesnt have any vertical fins and I've seen 301's, so I guess mine was just a factory version of the 250 with a big bore engine?
More questions and wants list to follow, Jim

As far as I know, the factory never built an ETZ 300. The first 300 they built was the ETZ 301. It is quite possible that the finned bit was taken off the first time the head was taken off, and is sitting at the back of someones shed ( or ended up in a scrap bin)
ES250 Doppelport, ES250, ES250/1, ES250/2,ETS 250, ES150, ETS150, BK350, IWL Pitty, SR56 Wiesel, SR59 Berlin, Troll............ and thats just the German two strokes!

Cheers ..... I did wonder. Tank decals are like this from the MZ Shop.
I'll upload some pics later in the Classic section of the forum.

The bolt-on vertical finned head casting on the 300s lasted until the first plug change on most of them.

Most got binned after that, it made routine maintenance difficult.
