Frame/VIN Plate?

Hi guyS,

I have been told that the frame number or VIN plate is located under the seat somewhere? Is this correct as I'm buying one blind from old evil bay! It has a V5 but don't want to buy one without a frame number or VIN plate.

Any help would be appreciated please regards Dave

The frame number is stamped either into the headstock, or (more likely) in one of the brackets for the front engine mount.

There's an extra 2" x 3" plate with full details (frame number, cc, date of manufacture) riveted to the bolt on aluminium rear mudguard / seat mount casting. That one's not as essential as the stamped in number on the frame.

Frame number was indeed stamped on the front bracket of the frame
