I got my mz back on the road in September.worked out its doing 30 mpg.does anyone want to swop for a Honda ss90 or a riders cub.before I do somthing like this.

if thats on an english gallon you are running way to rich

i had a yamaha ym1 305cc in 1966 it was a gas hog but not that bad

yes it is English gallons Dave.going to strip and clean carb and reset.but not expecting much more.Geting a 140cc pit bike motor next week.need to get and make a few bits so it will go in mz.then put me and the mz on a diet.

some of the guys over here are making the homemade bikes using the pit bike motors
and some are going to extremes

yes the motopeds look good.fx bikes are another.not keen on the mountain bike wheels.I have only seen a couple of the home made ones.when my kids where younger I put a Honda c 90 in yamaha dt 80 frame.we called it the hahaha.

Unless you are riding it on the stop all the time then something is very wrong. Forties is normal and if you nurse it may be 50ish on a run but the figure you give suggest something is amiss. Coked head and particularly exhaust.

new rings 3,000 miles ago.polished the piston top and head back then.the exhaust is very old.

Standard MZ's get terrible mileage because they're just crap. My modified MZ300 recently got 135 miles out of two British gallons pulling a heavy trailer recently, and I've seen almost 90mpg out of a 250 ETZ before with a different carb etc. Fit anything besides that standard BVF carb abomination and you'll see improvement. Even an old Amal 930 will do better, and they're rubbish.

if you need a running daily drive this works
one that sucks fuel is not what you need at the price of gas in europe
