Sport 660 oil drip

Postby barko1 » Sun Apr 06, 2014 3:50 pm

I have a slow but annoying oil drip from a fitting on the left rear crankcase in front of the sprocket. It has a wire running from this and I am guessing it may be an oil pressure sending unit??
If so I imagine that there is a bad O ring or seal behind that. Can anyone confirm this or tell me what part this is? I was thinking I might run to a friendly Yamaha dealer 60 miles away to get their input. The local dealer only hires idiots.

I haven't been riding this much as I wanted to get some fresh paint on it, which I did. I need to learn how to spray as the local body shop did a less than perfect job. Took it for a 90 mile spin today and it was much fun. Very happy running at 75/80 miles an hour, ran it up to the ton for good measure. Very smooth motor, probably needs a fork servicing, goodness knows if has ever been cared for :(

This sounds like the neutral switch and it should have a gasket ring behind it. I would just unscrew it and replace it with a THIN smear of silicon gasket on the threads and see if that cures the leak.
