Being defeated by a single nut..

Postby Peanut » Sun Mar 16, 2014 6:44 am

So spring has arrived, so have some spares for my bike!

New alternator rotor fitted, and new brushes.

New drive sprocket tab washer and nut. Ah, that nut.

I think I've spent around 3 hours so far this weekend just trying to get that @$~%ing nut to take. I'm (99%) certain it's left hand thread, but it simply will not go on!

Is there any clever technique, or will just perseverance do the job? I've already tried lubrication, swearing, shouting, bleeding, throwing things, and beer.

Or can someone let me know what I have to sacrifice to what god to get this damn thing on?!

*edit - it's an '86 MZ ETZ125 by the way...

Hmm.. I think I ordered the wrong spare. The old (and chewed up - it fell off) nut is right hand thread, and appears to be a coarser thread too. Right hand thread M20x1.5mm nut ordered...
