MZ TS 125 Electricals

Postby MzJ » Fri Feb 07, 2014 1:34 pm

Hi all,

A fairly easy job for some I think but I am having a problem finishing the wiring on my TS 125. I have recently bought the bike as it was 98% complete and just needed one or two minor adjustments here and there. Well those are done but the wiring is driving me crazy. It 'seems' and I use that term loosely to be all there but it also 'seem's to be routed differently to the wiring diagram in the manual. Specifically I'm looking to complete the wiring for the indicators.
Does there happen to be an MZ member here who lives near Bath that could give me a hand to complete? Happy to pay for time including free tea and crumpets.

I look forward to any help / ideas given

Jack

Can't give you any physical help, despite promise of tea and crumpets, but maybe the following will be of use:

If you have a "basic" TS, try:
http://www.sweller.co.uk/mz/electrics/wir_tsb.html

If you have a "Luxe" TS, use:
http://www.sweller.co.uk/mz/electrics/wir_tsd.html

And finally:
http://www.mz.cx/technik/elektrik/schaltplan-6v-l.jpg

All those are 'stock' - if you say yours is different, someone may have tried to remove/replace the relay, the blinker fuse or both. Wiring it back should be easy enough - the fuse goes from the keyswitch contact ('15', I think - i.e. battery positive) to one side of the blinker relay, the other side of the relay goes to the centre contact of the handlebar switch and the two contacts for either side of that switch go to the indicator units, front and back. The front/back split happens inside the headlight unit, with the two sets of wires going through separate cable-glands.

It all gets a bit more complicated if you want to keep the blinker-repeater function of the charging light, but shouldn't be too hard to figure that out...

I personally replaced the whole ugly arrangement with a solid-state flasher box I built myself. The old thermal relays are god-awful.

Many thanks Agronski,

Looking at the second and third diagram, I have managed to work out how to rewire her. As you had suggested the relay was missing and I think the previous owner was in the middle of replacing certain parts to suit. I can work with whats left rather than replacing the whole wiring loom.

Thanks again
