The rear caliper on my 660 Scorpio Sport....is dead.

Postby CoolAid » Thu Apr 28, 2005 6:10 pm

Hi everbody !
My rear brake caliper jammed because the brakepads were worn down to 2 mm and the pistons got stuck. The caliper then after turning red hot sprayed brakefluid allower the rear of the bike............. The caliper is beyond repair, and i have to replace it. The caliper doesn´t have a serial number written on it. Only the name of the manufacturer, Grimeca.

My question to all of you is:
Does anyone know if the rear caliper on my bike can be replaced with a from another more comon brand of motorbikes ? (Without any major modifications)
The reason i ask is... We dont seem to have a spareparts dealer for MZ in Sweden.

If you have any advice......i realy need it.

Im putting a list together for exactly this reason!

I don't have an answer for you, but I can suggest a way to find the answer you need.

Take the part number for the pads, and see if you can find it on the web.

That might give you a clue of what might fit.

I did a little on the manufacturer and came up with :

They are an italian manufacturer who specialise in lightweight brakes and are very well known for it!

The Aprillia Pegasso uses the same FRONT pads as the Baghira and the same REAR pads - so your next stop is to find out if its the same fitments for the caliper - BTW, the Yamaha TDR 125 uses the same pad on the REAR as well, maybe that would be easier to find!

Have fun!
I will only run out of ways of modify the Baggy when it weighs less that 100 kg and runs 100 bhp at the back wheel!!
