I purchased a new 03 Black Panther while still owning an 03 Honda Silverwing. I decided to sell the MZ as the silverwing is a great commuter and CHEAP insurance and I already have a WR450 for off road. It didn't sell. Then I took it to a dealer friend who sells supermoto bikes hoping to attract the right buyer. While it was there I bought a new 04 Suzuki 1200 Bandit which I traded in for a new quad a month later! Still have the silverwing. Again it didn't sell. Decided to keep MZ as one and only do-all bike and sell Honda and WR. Then dealer that I bought MZ from said he had interested party for clean reduced height BP! Put MZ up for consignment. Now that I had a buyer got wild hair for a new sportbike (traded sport bike for silverwing... go figure) and decided silverwing and WR would go! After all it would be worth it to be the proud owner of a brand new CBR600RR!!!! Be careful what you wish for. One 50mi. commute was enough to change that thinking, so back to the dealer to trade for more sensible yet still sporty Kawi Z1000. Don't even ask how I pulled that off! Oh the silverwing was traded in when CBR was bought so it's gone. Well dealer w/for sure buyer for MZ wants me to come get it because he hasn't had any interested buyers! And you know what? I'm actually glad!!!! I'm excited to get it back and here's why. After owning all these other bikes I now see how great the MZ is. The Bandit was good but wind blast was surprisingly awful even w/the new fairing compared to the 98 I used to have. And it was rather bland. I have no doubt the CBR would shred a twisty road but it was much more uncomfortable then my ZX6R was (the motor was noticeably stronger though) and vibrated and blew hot exhaust out the fairing. The Z1000 is a blast! Like a big BP without the off road capability. And it stands out in a crowd of lookalike sportbikes. Gas mileage is dismal though and wind blast terrible. I don't see how the wind blast can be so much worse than on the MZ. They're both about the same riding position,no faring, motocross type bars. Anyway enough rambling. I can't wait til TUE. to go get my bike back. Anyone questioning whether or not to get an MZ should read this and learn from my mistake. They're comfy, plenty fast, corner like a sportbike, lot's cheaper to insure, excellent gas mileage for a 3.1gal. tank, look different, great suspension and brakes, and are very smooth even at high speed.
