MZ ETZ 250 Handlebar Diameter

Postby 7moreminutes » Tue Oct 01, 2013 7:10 am

Hi there,

So recently i purchased an mz etz 250 to tinker with, I found the handlebars a little narrow so bought a set of 30" wide bars, they're 7/8 diameter, or 22.2cm.. All fine until i tried to fit the throttle sleeve thing-a-me.. too tight. Gave it a bit of a tapping and got it on.. except then the throttle was stiff in the throttle sleeve.. gave that some filling and was ok, then dealt with the end cap.. just about convinced it to return, but it doesn't feel great.

Are the MZ ETZ bars a standard diameter? or are they just slightly smaller than standard?

I had the same thing many years ago changing the bars on a R80Gs i had.

I had assumed the bars would be the same diameter, but ended up reaming out the BMW controls to be able to fit them to my new bars.

Get a cheap vernier calliper(8-9 quid!) if you havn`t got one, they`re worth their weight in gold.
