So , I'm starting a new thread marked security,, If anyones seen my video you would have noticed i got locks and chains coming out my ears.Where i live bolting it down "is just a challenge" people here walk the streets with generators and grinders on wheelbarrows, cutting torches in wheelie bins, and white vans with built in hoists,,
So i bought myself a gps tracking device from ebay , basically, when this device is fitted all i do is txt a request to the simcard(not supplied) and it replies with a longitude and latitude in which i add to google earth and it locates my bike for me ,,the system works on gprs too , so with a little setup it should work on my pc with out any texting..I've opened the box and had a quick look ,the unit itself is the size of a cigarette packet so it will easily fit in the airbox wrapped in a bag,. you got panic switch, two door triggers,(mybe fit one on a mercury tilt switch??,theres an output to a siren?power leads, and a relay to shut anything off via txt command, you get gsm and gprs antennas, also with a built in battery.
so if anyone's familiar with the iphones "find my iphone"app, this works the same way,
Fortunately for us in the uk most 3g sim cards revert to 2g when theres no 3g signal,,these trackers only work on 2g so check your area/location and mobile service providers to see if they still provide 2g,,i got myself a giffgaff sim and bought £10 credit, should last me a year,,
So , this is as far as i have got , i'm going to try and get it set up on the bench first before i fit it to the bike so i'll keep you all posted,,at the end if i'm successful i'll provide you with my tracking telephone number so you can dial in and see it working,,
anyone else got any good security ideas,
