Hi, thanks for the response.... no battery yet as bought the bike as a non-runner and trying to see if I can get her to run before spending on her - have the switch on the head-light to the extreme right position which the Haynes manual for the bike says you can start her with - I do have experience with old Yamaha and Suzuki 2 strokes that you could start and run perfectly without any battery. I am still also able to do this on the Yamaha DT 125 I still have. I have fitted a new NGK 8 plug as advised and the points are fine but there is still no power to the coil - took out the new plug and earthed to check - even added an extra earth as I have had that problem on another bike - still no spark....
