rear brake relay

Postby klausman » Wed May 15, 2013 4:56 pm

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if any one knew of a replacement for the rear brake relay. I keep having trouble every time I hit the rear brake the brake light is not going on. Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

which mz model
as i do not remember a relay in the brake circuit
just 2 switches and the rear one is bad about going out on the rt125
its a banjo bolt in the rear hydraulic Master Cylinder unit
the front one is a bmw part number i have had them both go out
check the bulb its a dual filament 1157 ??i think
the 660 bikes are hard on bulbs
dave

sometimes things get lost in translation
relay in english is a remote controlled switch
a switch is operated by your fingers where it is located or in this case by the brake levers front or rear

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply. Yes you are so right, things can get lost in translation. What I am referring to is the "switch" that's bolted on top of the master cylinder with the two electrical connections on top of it. The bike is a 2005 Baggy. The front brake when pressed, lights up the taillight but the back doesn't. I'm in the US, so sometimes trying to acquire specific parts for this bike is challenging and time consuming. I was recently getting the bike NY state inspected for the Year and I was denied due to this issue and only have a few days left on my current inspection before I will have to stop riding until the problem is repaired.

Thanks again for all your help

Look on EBAY with a search of 'motorcycle rear brake switch' and u will find several. Since u want to use a hydraulic switch...u would need to determine the correct thread for your brake cylinder. Or use one of the mechanical switches in the interim.

Good luck.
