Hi guys,
Im finally completing my long-haul restauration of a Trophy Sport. The resistor coil/winding 'thing' on the generator looks to have been bashed about a bit and it is flapping about and just about hanging in there on two fine wires, one of which is soldered in place. Can it be simply removed and replaced? ive seen a resistor for sale on UK ebay with two flag terminals. i presume it is a replacement that can be screwed to the existing screw and the nearest one to the point where it's soldered?

Have you got a modern reg unit on in or the old mechanical one? If you put a modern one on you will get better charging etc and you can bin the resisitor.

Oh no, it's still got the old tin-box one. Can you recommend anyone to supply one (pref with wiring diagram!)?

Try Phil at "the MZshop" - he's bound to sell them. His website isn't completely up to date so might be worth e-mailing. Alternatively MZ-B definitely sell them - just search for MZ-B or powerdynamo and you'll find them. They are in Germany but I bought my ignition system from them with no probs and it was here in a couple of days.
