Engine Protection Bars for Baghira

That's what MZ calls them, anyway.

I bought in sight unseen, hoping to add a little armor for the engine covers. The product delivered (from SF Moto. Thanks, Mike!) is more like a cross between a skid plate and engine bars. The front and bottom are protected, but nothing is provided to wrap around the sides.

I have not seen photos of them here, so I'll try to attach a few.

The installation is simple: Remove two bolts, hold the unit in place, replace two bolts. The bolts are 6mm and 8mm socket heads, if I recall correctly.

Here's the gear! Does that look like $200 worth? Those Germans like to get real paid, I guess. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't suppose you have to brace the bottom, but I did. Didn't want to pull a bolt and have all that Yamaha iron fall on the ground. Note the little red jack.

The smaller bolt goes in the lower and most frontest hole. Frontest is not an acceptable word for writing books and stuff, but it is perfectly appropriate for writing about motorcycle fix-ups on the Internet.

Now she's all hung up and cranked down. A few shots of the new piece follow.

As I said, it doesn't reach around too very far.

From the back bottom.

And I hope you all appreciate my crawling around on my belly on my day off for your entertainment.

The bias cut on the ends looks pretty cool. Not that anyone will ever see it without falling down near your bike.

(And I'll be cleaning out that garage any day now, so don't start.)

Okay, I'm all ready to go out and scrape a curb or rock, as long as it's the correct size and shape. I'll just have to be careful picking opponents.
