BRAKES SAXON TOUR 500R

Postby NEIL » Mon Oct 01, 2012 4:51 pm

Hey everyone

I have a brake question, In April I replaced my caliper and rotor. In the beg of June one day I rode about 100 miles and parked the bike, Where it has been sitting since. Last weekend I went to pick up my bike to start riding it again and pulled the brake lever to find I had no brake. Opened the master cylinder and it was bone dry. No wet spot where the bike has been stored and cant find a trace of a leak.

1. I will go back down next week to try and solve the mystery but was hoping for suggestions or similar experience? Logic would say that there is a leak and when i find it problem solved.

2. Could my master cylinder be bad?

3. Yes Im strange, I stored my bike in the summer and want to ride in the winter, just worked out that way this year.

4. Thanks in advance for the help as this is a strange one

You will find the leak as soon as you fill it up and bleed it, wash everything with water to avoid paint damage caused by brake fluid.

check the seal on the master cylinder cap
water and evaporation are big enemies of most all types of brake fluid
was the storage area very hot this summer??

and like water if there's a hole it will find it just faster if there's any pressure applied

I did not ride much this summer it was so hot here even at night it was like riding in a blast furnace
