I know I'm probably stating the obvious, but have you put any oil in? Is it of the correct grade, I've had some stange gearbox/ kickstart problems with an etz251 with too thick an oil.

Was there any special way i was supposed to put detent in. I keep reading , " as long as you dident shift gears with detent out you should be able to just screw bolt spring and ball back in . Well since the spring was shot and the ball was missing the gears were shifted by old owner and me loading bike in truck and putting in gear once in truck and who knows how many times by owner. I was wondering what is the issue with just screwing the bolt back in after bike has been shifted ?? because that is what i did )-= please help ??
