'01 Traveller electrical plug....

Postby Namikuz » Sat Aug 04, 2012 12:31 pm

On the right side of my engine is an electrical plug that looks like a fuel injector plug for a car. I followed it back into the harness and it goes into the main harness under the seat, Its black and the connector has 2 wires. ANYONE know what this is for? Bike runs well, is it a port for the ignition box???? As far as I know the bike is stock except for the M4 pipe.

there is a wire that goes to an epa smog device
On most bikes they are missing as owners trashed them mostly as they find the epa to be
a PITA like the irs
my rt125 gets 55mpg on the ethanol gas and almost 70 on the real stuff

That plug went to a electric vent valve for the fuel tank. When the bike is off the valve would be closed to prevent any vapors from being released from the fuel tank. The down side is that on a hot day with your bike parked in the sun, the tank swells up and cracks the paint around the filler hole. Ask me how I know :x .
Mine is now removed from the bike and I added a longer vent hose to reach down under the bike with the rest of the carb hoses.

Same on my tank as well.Plus faded decals on the switchgear and some cracked vinyl on the seat. Was probably stored in a garage near a window for years.
