Indicator relay buzzing no left turn

Postby yatesy2073 » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:00 am

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my indicators to spear head type, they are rated 12v 23w. When i first installed them they worked fine but now the left indicators have stopped working and the relay is buzzing and vibrating like mad. I now realise my relay may not have been up to the job as it's only rated 12v 2/4x10w so I bought a new relay 12v 18-23w which doesn't seem to work at all ie now have no idicators buzzing etc and blows every fuse I put in. Before with the old relay at least the right side still worked. I'm not great with electrics I must admit but know enough to get me by, I have tried everything I can think of but no joy, please can someone help as I've got the mot coming up soon.

some aftermarket signals are not of very good quality
take the offending unit off and test it to see if its ground is good and each filament of bulb is good

my traveller had an after market set installed when i got it and the quality of them was very poor
replaced them with a set from a ktm duke 2002

most flashers are sensitive to load and may not work unless the load (bulb wattage)is correct

Thanks David, will try what you said. The new flasher I bought is round, the old is square I didn't realise this but after reading a few other bike forum posts there is a difference is that right?

its the rating of what size bulb it will flash

friend of mine junked a Suzuki FA50 the other day no one could get it to run

i parts it out and in doing so found its problem ...

tail light was broken and bad ...some one replaced it with one with a 12volt bulb

bike has a 6 volt system looks like an other dumb guy killed a bike

by keeping the 6 volt battery discharged all the time

After sorting through a bunch of nonsense from the previous owner... I'm getting the same problem on my Baghira. When I press the left turn signal, the left rear light turns on and its a constant buzz from the relay. The right turn signal does nothing. He had no turns wired up and the fuse removed... I see why now.

Does anyone have any info on the relay part no. I need to replace?

I'm going to hook the front turn signals up today and see if this helps. It does this regardless of if any of the turn signals are hooked up.
