SEAT BASE

Postby dwc » Wed Sep 07, 2011 12:59 pm

Further dealings with my newly acquired ETZ 250 have revealed that the seat base is rotten to the core.

Luckily I have a replacement.

Is the seat base prone to rusting and what preventative measures can be taken to prevent it happening again?

Also has anyone recovered their seat and was it easy?

Etz bore!

As the average 250 is now getting well over the age of consent, yes they do rust, you could try Fertan as a treatment. I have done one myself and it was no big deal although the second time I sent it to a professional.

Having the same question come to mind...
Fertan website

and I found this somewhat amusing...
On this web page:
How to use Fertan, American site...
Product description:
Fertan is non-poisonous, harmless, non-irritating for humans and non-polluting for the environment.
Next line:
It is sensible to point out that in case of contact with the skin you should wash with plenty of running water. If eye contact occurs, wash with plenty of running water and consult medical authorities. Fertan should not be consumed.
OK, which is it??? :?

Just finishing off derusting my 250 and the stuff (Fertan) really works well, followed by antirust uncoat and then something shiney

They are just covering their arses, aren't they.....

Yep, It just hit me to see those 2 statements right next to each other.

Sounds like a good product that I'll keep in mind for use if/when needed...with the proper PPE on, of course... :D
