mz baghira mechanical tacho.

Postby den » Sun May 29, 2011 6:41 am

hi all . I would like to ask two question please , I have looked already for the answers on this site but have had no luck however I'm sorry in advance if the item has already been covered and answered.

I have fitted a mechanical drive to my baggy engine ,now , does anyone know what tacho my fit , I'm looking at a BMW funduro and a Yamaha sr500 and ducati sport touring 2 on flea bay right now , any help would greatly help reduce the hair loss

secondly

my baggy has no radiator fan , Should it have one ! , if not , which one from another bike will fit ,i can sort the electrics out easily , just wondering if its missing, would have to source a replacement.

Thanks in advance. :smt006

You should have two radiator fans, one for each side. They are held on with two screws to the two holes on the backside of the radiator outer edge. Since the radiators are same as KTM, perhaps that would be the easiest source unless you can find them from somebody parting out a bike.

without looking i think the baggy has just the one fan, petrol tap side, and rarely comes on unless very hot and in traffic,i sometimes run it to temp just to wake it up  .
as for tacho i would have thought yamaha would be the one to use or go the trailtech or acewell way, then you get temp gauge as well, cheers.
yep only the one fan on mine,08 model .

Thanks for the reply guys. Its all sorted now , The gearing drive from a yam 600 single fit straight on and i custom made a tacho cable from an xt600 and a universal speedo inner cable kit ,had to chop the outer cable though , the clock was a universal mechanical drive tacho with a 4 to 1 ratio you see on flea bay for £39.99 , i got a second hand one for £9.99..Polished up a treat , such a relief to see a rev counter working on my bike , made riding it soo much better , easier to relate speed/engine noise and gear change - photos to follow
