starter on skorpion

Postby basser23 » Thu May 12, 2011 5:30 pm

Hey guys,
Silly question..when removing the Skorpion starter do you have to remove the left side cover,or are you just supposed to be able to remove by
disconnecting the pos lead and the 2 bolts on the crankcase?

Thanks

You just remove the 2 bolts and the wire from the motor. It may help in removing the motor if the left side cover is removed as then the shaft can be tapped gently with a rubber/hide mallet to aid removal. The oil pipe needs to be removed from behind the motor and the bolts replaced temporarily. When you put the motor back don't forget to anneal the copper sealing washers on the oil pipe for a good seal. Heat the washers to a dull red with a blow torch and allow to cool naturally and then refit them with the pipe.

Thanks David....
I need to remove the starter to replace the ancient breather hose and clean up an oil leak from the hose...I have attempted to remove by removing the bolts and
starter cable before..wont budge...so I'll assist by tapping the pinion with said mallet..see what ya mean about the oil pipe.....
Thanks!!!
