So, What they did was simply boot up (insulate) the connections in the breaklight assembly. They also replaced a 15a fuse with a breaker. Just for sh*ts and giggles I replaced the breaker with a fuse and it ran just fine, no shutdowns. I keep the breaker in just in case, but it seems that insulating the breaklight asembly stopped the short.

I was surprised to see that the brake light contacts are "hanging out in the wind" when I took the assembly of the other day (for something totally unrelated).
Thanks for the follow-up and fix.
Have to keep a watch there.
