Clutch Worm ?

Postby Rich_MZ » Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:58 pm

Hello again ,
Good news the TS125 passed the MOT today , no problems whatso....

My question is a simple one this time , can anyone tell me that if the slotted bolt on the clutch worm is right in does this mean the clutch plates are worn out.
My clutch is dragging and I am running out of adjustment , in reference to the worm the service manual says "Due to wear of the set of disks the distance is not enlarged but becomes smaller " , I have no idea what that is supposed to mean :?:

Thanks

on my 4cycle rt125 when i ran out of adjustment on the cable and the inside slotted bolt and lock nut
i replaced the fiber plates if the bike is older you may want to do the springs as well
also make sure the clutch lever is getting a full pull on the cable
i had problems with a Yamaha ym1 1966 from not enough lever pull on the cable
it made the shifting funny

I would be very surprised if it was the plates. They all drag a bit especially when cold. Check with the Yahoo forum - MZriders

Hi , ok about the point that they all drag a bit.
I have a spare engine and out of interest had a look at how the clutch goes together , does anyone have a tip on how to remove the pins that hold the springs/caps in place and even more importantly how do you replace them ?
I tried on the spare engine and had a right job even getting the pin out let alone trying to catch the cap and spring as it flew past my ear at 100mph :-D

Thanks
Richard

I really wouldn't do that myself, but one usually removes the whole clutch with a puller and then takes it apart.
