2001 Skorpion 660 Traveller
Hi, the OEM rubber mounts that are between the coil and the frame on my bike are completely shot to the point where the coil is barely hanging on the bike. My question is can I simply run new bolts (with the appropriate spacers) thru the frame tabs to re-secure the coil. I ask this because it seems the OEM rubber mounts are designed to isolate the coil from the frame? If I run bolts I will be grounding the two mounting tabs on the front and back of the coil to the frame. Is this allowed or will I fry something?

not sure about the fry some thing
but it will most likely shake the coil to pieces
if it vibrates as bad as mine does

I'm not sure how the coil is mounted on the Scorpion series. Are the mounts little rubber cylinders with studs poking out each end?

I doubt the coil is mounted with shock mounts to isolate it from ground. The shock mounts are there to protect it from vibration. Here's another good source for them.

On a side note, anything that was factory mounted on a shock mount was done for a reason - minimize vibration. I have no idea if the exhaust pipe/muffler was mounted on shock mounts on my Silver Star 500 as it had a kluge exhaust system on it when I got it, but when I redid the exhaust system, I added shock mounts like below where it attached to the frame. Amazing how much smoother it feels.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I would never have thought you could source such an odd part. Ordered a couple today. Will post an update when they arrive.
Last thing I need is a bad coil because of something I did but do you think a coil would be so sensitive to vibrations that the engineers had to isolate them?... they seem pretty solid state to me (but what do I know)
