exhaust system on etz251

Hi all, has anyone got experence of the exhaust downpipe connection to the cylinder head on the MZ ETZ251.
My question is should there be a copper gasket at this point, none are shown in the Haynes manual,but are sold by Burwins.I bought one and got a very poor gas joint than without one, Any ideas chaps Alan

No definitely no gasket,
Just tighten up the exhaust ring into the barrel carefully, and Very tightly with the supplied C spanner,
it will probably still leak slightly but re tighten after a ride, then check again every couple of days, it should seal in about a week?

Thanks for the reply, having just rebuilt the engine the exhaust was next.
With the burwins copper gasket in one hand and down pipe in the other, I was just not sure what to do !!
