I am not familiar with this particular bike but sounds to me like you have an issue(s) with your bikes charging system (stator/regulator/rectifier). A new battery might mask the issue but only for a very short period. The headlight is one of the biggest current draws (5Amps?) and if your charging system is not doing its job the battery will slowly drain down to the point where the bike just stops (which sounds like your situation). Can you get hold of a manual and start troubleshooting the charging system?

Good luck!

Check that your grounds are clean. It cant do any harm to clean up any earth contacts with emery cloth and make sure there aren't any voltage drops.

new bulbs all round

are the new bulbs of the same watt rating as the old original bulbs
some turn bulbs come in different watt ratings
and some 6v head lamp osram and hella come in the same base but are rated 25 to 55 watts wrong size will overload system
these systems were under powered in there day
also some bikes are fussy about the charge bulb the one that says bike is charging
if the stock bulb is not used it will charge funny
do not know if the mz bikes do this but some bikes do get upset with the wrong charge bulb (generator lamp)

and green crud in the switches shorting things
the high low beam switch on a bmw before 1975 both /2 and /5 are bad about the green crud in the switch's in humid areas

tail lamp/ brake lamp wires reversed dim side of bulb is run lamp ..bright side is stop this can be a real power sucker
on a weak system
