Breather Hose Skorpion 660

Postby basser23 » Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:32 am

Stupid question,cause I'm lazy,
Anyone know the inside diameter of the crankcase vent hose? Mine is leaking, and I'm not near the bike to pull it off..Also is there a less cumbersome way to
remove it without removing the starter motor...
Thanks

Dont know if its me or there is a real advantage to fitting a power brake one way check valve into the breather of the Skorpion.
I recently fitted this valve into the line and then ran the exit to the airbox.it seems to rev a little quicker...hmm...
There was an article on one of the Norton forums about using this valve to lower crankcase pressure to relieve oil leaks, and it seemed to work..so I
figured no harm and I might pick up some extra oomph...seems to...
What it does of course is relieve pressure on the pistons down stroke and prevent it sucking in air on the upstroke...racers have been doing this for years..

Interesting. May have to give it a try.

Did you ever find out the diameter of the hose...
I need to replace those on mine next time I have it apart...I've noticed some splits on the more visible hoses.

Hey Bill,
No about hose dia,but it appears to be about 1/2" id...ours of course have an internal spring..I 'm using 1/2" running fom the check valve to the airbox.
the reinforced garden type, clear vinyl..had to soften with heat a bit to make fit over the air box barb cause it is thick walled...

I used 1/2in from the parts store to replace part of that one, just haven't gone all the way to the engine...
Winter projects...gotta love 'em.
