Bolts stripped in Traveller tank

Postby Fluffy_Dog_1018 » Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:00 pm

Hi, first post.

I picked up a 2001 Traveller that has sit for a few years. First thing I go to do is take the tank off and crap the molded in nuts spin free. I found a few posts that say to drill a small access hole and pin the nut with a self tapping screw (makes perfect sense). Problem I have is exactly where do I drill so as not to hit the fuel cell? Anybody got a picture or can explain how to do this. A picture of my tank is attached. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

EDIT, nevermind... found the related threads and am on my way to a fix.

Thanks

here is a photo of the tank without the bracket. the depth of the holes is about 12.75mm /1/2 inch. i would dremel the heads of the bolts off and the use pb blaster/kroil to soak the threaded part left in the hole, then a soldering iron to heat the bolts, given it's a gas tank no open flame :!: . and then vice grips on the stubs.
hope this helps.
