73 150 MZ how big a battery can I use.

Postby reetpleat » Thu Sep 09, 2010 11:08 pm

I just got this bike, a cool 73 150. It has a six volt battery that is tiny and it is shot. i want to put the biggest one I can in. But will a certain size affect the wiring, like burn it out or whatever? I can figure out size to still fit but don't want to meess up the wiring.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can put the biggest battery you can find that will fit in the cavity - as long as it's a 6V battery of course. I just finished installing a considerable larger maintenance free battery in my 12V Silver Star, but had to modify the hold-down hardware - no problem. So measure the cavity dimensions, then go searching for a 6V group number battery that will fit. Make note of the location of the positive terminal - you don't want that near any grounding points. :-D
