All,
my bike is no longer abandoned in Horicon, Wi however it still doesnt' like to run for more than a few hundred feet at a time. I'm hoping here for some ideas, here's my backstrory.
The initial breakdown was at about 65, running smooth then there was a backfire and I lost all my power. The main (visible) evidence of a problem was a burnt out 15a fuse in the set of three (not one the of the singletons - all of which survived) under the seat.
A buddy and I went out with a truck to get it, changed the fuse, drove it to the end of a driveway and the fuse burned out again. Tried a second fuse (just because hope sometimes works) and it burnt quickly as well.
Thanks to recommendations from members of the forum here I swapped out a couple of relays with the same results - nearly as soon as the bike was in gear the same fuse burnt out.
Next thing was to take the tank off and try to find loose wire(s) that could be grounding out. I don't really know what I'm doing under there, but I gave various and sundry wires pretty good tugs, everything seems nice and tight.
So now I'm kind of at a loss. This issue seems to be only happen when the bike is in gear - I can leave it to idle for 1/2 hour or more, but once I put her in gear and roll forward the fuse burns out within 100ft. It doesn't seem to be realted to the number of flashers or high beams or horns I run - I can't get it to die unless its in gear and rolling.
Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions,
Matt
