I would check the following

ALternator output. Check at first join in wiring. It should have an alternating current output on all the wires that are teh same colour.
Check the output of the generator at teh rectifier terminals
Check the out put of the recitifier.
Check the battery, notmally the main culprit on these bikes.

Hi
I had a similar problem with my Baggy when I got it. Turned out to be the main fuse on the charging system. Its in the fuse block under the seat.

Hi

I seem to have similar problems with an 2005 Baghira. No charge going to the battery. I can bump start the bike but it runs badly and cuts out. I have checked the main fuse and it is fine. Could you please send me the wiring diagram mentioned in this forum.

My email is perry_jon@hotmail.com

Thank you.

Hi
I has a problem with my battery not charging, turned out to be a blown fuse. Could be that simple, worth a check.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at all the fuses (four) in the fuse block next to the battery but they are all ok. I changed the main fuse - no difference. I have had the bike nearly two years and the battery is probably not all that good now. Is it possible for a bad battery to cause problems with other components (regulator) as has been mentioned here. Is the regulator a Yamaha part? Is it expensive?

The only wiring diagram I have is in the owners manual (printed, that I got with the bike.) Maybe the Yamaha SZR 660 service manual would help. The charging circuit would be pretty much the same except that the wire colours would be different. (I just tried the three URL I Have for it. Two not found and the third was reported as an "attack site".)

you may be using too much choke
my traveller starts with no choke and no throttle on warm days
