1974 TS250 CENTER BOLT

Postby RAYCAUGHRON » Mon Apr 12, 2010 7:07 pm

Hello,
I am a new owner two MZ TS250 bikes. Yesterday(while attempting to change the gearbox oil), and I made the mistake of removing the central-bolt on the gearbox rather than the correct oil drain screw. After replacing it and filling the oil, I found that the bike would no-longer shift gears. I removed the central bolt a second time and found the ball-bearing lodged inside the screw and the spring broken in half. I suppose I forced the bolt too much?
I was wondering if anyone sells replacement center bolt/springs and bearing?
Please let me know if you can help or point me in the right direction for these parts.

Thank you in advance,

Hello moonzipper301.

If you havent moved the gear leaver, no harm done just replace ball bearing then the spring followed by the bolt, every thing should then work OK, the ball bearing just locates into a grove

Yes, i had a wee look into the casing with a torch, i saw this groove and noticed that it moved slightly with movement of the gear lever. So i put it back in :)
