Skorpion tank/carb removal procedure/tips please

Hi All,
I need to remove the carbs on my skorpion for cleaning.
What is the procedure I need to follow for
a/ Removing the tank and cleaning and filters in the tank.
b/ Removing the carbs.

Are there any traps I need to be aware of and are there any tips to make the job easier.

Nope, no real traps...

Draining the carb you should take care not to strip the brass screw/valve on the bowl is easy enough to do, replacements are avaliable but.

You will see what you need to do when you remove the seat, rear plastic and unscrew the back end of the tank.
Just make sure that you have clearence between frame and petcock when you lift the tank.

Just make sure you remember where all the hoses/drains go and you will be ok.
You need to disconnect choke plunger and throttle cable befor e you start removing the carb, easy enough.

Carbs can be a bit tight, remove the hose clamps completely and try to disconnect the airbox side first as the connection towards the airbox is more pliable than the imanifold side.

Removing petcock from tank is straight forward as well, filter is attached to petcock, no hassle.

Instead of using carb cleaner or any other foul substance I have found lamp oil/odourless kereosene to be a good substitute if you have the time to soak the carb for a day or two, also I use ether (or brakeleen) to spray/clean all pipes, jets etc.

Hi,
Where exactly is the drain screw on the carb? There is a small screw at bottom left of the carb with a small rubber hose nearby. Is this it?

Is this the drain screw for the skorpion carb?

What is this HEX bolt for on the right hand side of the carb?

What is this for?

While I'm here are there any tips on removing the cables from the carb?

Is there an easy way to remove these?

There are quite a few small hoses to remove and one large one that starts at the bottom of the air box that loops over the rear of carbs. These should not be a problem but are a bit fiddly to remove because of lack of space.
I'm dreading trying to pull the carbs up out of the rubber intake pipes. I've read that silicone spray or grease helps.
Any more tips?

#1 Yes that is the drain screw
#2 Hex bolt is for access to main jet in the CV half of the carb, you will understand when it is in your hand.
#3 Just release the tensioners on the carb and unhook the cables, choke plunger is removed by the brass hex on the side.
#4 Its a Yamaha proprietary Carb (manufactured by Tekei or something) only found on Yamaha engines, name and number are stamped on the body.
#5 Just apply ample amount of force and wiggle the carbs loose once clamps, cables and tubes are removed.

Download a Yamaha SZR manual, its the same carb as the MuZ

Thanks for the info.
I just hope I get a few dry days to get the work done.
Just have to do it in stages and then it wont seem as daunting.
Ive taken plenty of photo's so I know how things go back together.
