kill switch problem revisited..

Postby 95SaxonTour » Sat Jan 09, 2010 6:28 pm

Hi all,

Last summer I posted a problem my saxon tour had when I got
it. The PO modified the bike to only shut off with the decompression
lever. Yup, I know that is the preferred method of shutting down
a Rotax. However, Im a stickler for originality. I've gone through
the wiring diagrams for hours. Had the tank and faring off and traced
wires with no luck at all. The guy I bought it off of said it was like that
when he bought it from his PO.

My question: What would be the best way to wire the bike up to kill
the engine. I hate to add or chop wires but I would like to have some
other way to shut off the bike.

Another question: Will the continued shutting off with the decomp lever
damage anything?

Many thanks,

Ryan

i feel it should be always shut off with the lever
turning off with key can let it run backwards against the sprag clutch in the starter
and it is expensive to fix
mine was $225 usd in 2004
i will check my wiring and send you a drawing of how it is wired
so you can see what was changed on yours
