My ES/2 starting problems were centred mainly around carburettor settings,
it turn out the float level was too high which meant the engine flooded
even on just the first kick.
Even with the carby set up correctly starting is still a bit of an art form, no more than 2 kicks
with the choke on and then no choke and a bit of throttle.
In the end I fitted a Bing carburettor which seems to have a much better choke arrangement,
this allows the engine to start and continue running with the choke on with no flooding.
I changed the condensor and the charging regulator and after that the 6V ignition
system worked fine.
