1995 Silver Star Fork Oil Capacity?

Postby comanche91 » Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:18 pm

Been searching and looking. I need to change the front fork oil and can not determine what fork these bikes have, so I don't know the refill capacity or even how to check the level from the cap. My manual does not cover it either. The sliders are dark gray, no markings that I can see, and there is a drain plug on the left leg only. I'm pretty sure it's a Paioli fork, but not 100% certain at all. Is this the same fork as on the Sport & Tour and perhaps the Traveller? This is a great forum, but there is basically zero info on Silver Star specific parts. Either that's because they are so super reliable that they never break, or they are super rare. Suspect it's the latter. :D

Thanks, Don

Thanks guys, got it. 230 cc capacity per leg. At least I have a drain on one leg and I'll pump out the other with a small drill operated pump I use for auto transmissions.

Yeah Dave, that'll work too. Both methods are a whole lot easier than removing the fork. I save that for when I have to replace the seals.

Are there supposed to be o-rings on the fork tube caps? There are none on mine even though there is what looks like a groove for one at the top where it seals. Thanks
