Baghira S/M 660 Stator or charging problem

Postby Bagiraboy68 » Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:08 pm

I just replaced my stator with a brand new used one it worked for 2 days on my freshly recharged battery. I was on my way home and it was like someone was flicking my light switch turning my bike on and off as if my battery was toast and it was. What does anybody suggest to do now. Is it the regulator? Please help i finally found the stator used and i thought it was the problem. To you guys that said no way on the stator Here you go YOU WERE RIGHT. Please any suggetions would be helpful.

Charge the battery or get a new one.
Start the bike and with a $10 voltmeter with the bike running you should read almost 13.5 volts across the pos.and neg.battery leads also rev it to 4000 rpm and make sure it holds this is good.It should go up slightly to 14 volts.

If it is good at that point you should be set.If you have problems after, it is with the "new stator" hopefully you have the old one to put back .Or the only other thing it could be is the voltage regulator.which it sounds like it was all along as a stator is a rare replacement...JMO just my onion good luck let us know.

voltage regulator and starter solenoid only thing to go out on my rt125 (battery also first week but i do not think the dealer set up was too good on it) sat in shipping crate 6 months before sold low on water and not charged
batterys seem to last about 2 years each it gets started and short tripped a lot
that's 7 years of use and 18500 miles
