Hi again Jak.
I wrote up the mod here

Bill Jurgenson recommended this mod on his website, and my rearset linkage was particularly horrible. I bought a brand new Yam lever for £11 and just fitted it pointing backwards. It was in the perfect position for my foot on the standard rearset - except the gears were now upside down .... you press
down to change
up. However, having owned several British bikes with that configuration I found that the knack was still buried deep in my subconscious and it came naturally after a few minutes of riding.
So, all you need is the pedal.
As for the second-hand cover, I'd assumed you'd be stripping the horrible silver/grey Jap paint stuff off the cover's alloy to mirror polish it..... no?
