Just wondering what plug anyone else runs in their TS250 motor, Mine originally ran Champion L78 - then NGK BR8 ES, which it ate in about 50miles & is currently on some random one (still 8 rated but extra short) from a lawnmower till my new plugs arrive. I've been advised to, & have, ordered BR6 ES this time as the 8 seems to foul easily & I can't get a 7 but I'm apprehensive about going a full 2 grades hotter.
Just wondering what your experiences with plugs were & what people's opinions are on what lasts/does not eat pistons...

had a yamaha ym1 1966 305 cc it used the same plug as was listed for my bmw r50s 1962
my cousin ran the same plug in the 250 cc version of the same bike
and did ok with it ..... did away with the fouling and bad plug problem
bosch plug but do not remember plug number just that it was same as in the r50s

Hello!
MZ manual said german spark plug ISOLATOR ZM 14-260, difficult to found.
Aprox. same grade compatible NGK B8HS . Plug gap O,6 milimetres.
I use now a ISOLATOR but always use NGK and I don´t fell any different.

Interesting comment on the plug spec of the R50s, will have to look that up. I had a check of the "random mower plug" the other day & it's starting to get quite heavy deposits, albeit nice tea-coloured ones now. I will stick the 6 grade in on Monday & check it regurlarly for any overheating but I'm a bit more convinced now that hotter is the way to go with this particular engine.

Just my two penn'orth! Got back on the road on an MZ ts250 supafive after a 23 year lay off. Thanks ebay! my shiny 'new' red MZ didn't run for long without cutting out at idle so stick a new plug in. Choice? NGK or pretty much nothing. barely 100 miles later and cut out jump off re kick, cut out jump off re kick. A lot of incentive to do something about it. The cars behind must have been thinking 'what the ef**in ell is he doing" anyway, searching my fading memory banks my previous MZ and Jimmy James used to eat these crap plugs. So, on ebay some awfully nice chap was selling 'new' old stock champions so less than £10 and one week later I stuck one of my 4 champions in and over 3000 miles later it's still idleing on the same plug.
Is there a moral in this? maybe champion are better plugs? Maybe they are not so prone to fouling as these wonderful new NGK one's? My solution? get online with ebay quick and stock up before they are all gone.
Oh and mid life crisis? not a bit of it just a bloody good time back on 2 wheels.

If the bike is eating plugs then there is something wrong with the bike. I run NGK in all my zeds with no problem - root out the problem - will be cheaper in the end.

The correct NGK plug B8HS or a B7HS if you want something a little hotter. They are cheap as chips and last for ever in my experience.

I bought a New ETZ250 in 1988 and it came from the factory fitted with a NGK B6HS spark plug,
I was warned by ALL those in the Know that my piston would melt with such a Hot plug, never a problem,
I changed it at 5,000 miles with a B7HS and ran on this grade for a further 40,000 miles again no problems,
Use the correct specification recommended by the Manufacturer,
NOT Random Lawn Mower Plugs.

The comparable spark plug to the Isolator 14-260 is the NGK b8HS.
