Mastiff with Brembo breaks

Postby roeleman » Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:22 pm

Hello guys,

I'm new here, I'm from Belgium and I have a Black panther slightly modified: carburation kit an exhaust pipes from tunebike, the muffler is hand made by a local fabricator. For the rest I mounted a reikon fatbar ands changed the mudflap on the back.

But this is not why I writing this for, I was just checking a second hand site here in Belgium and found a Mastiff with 0km om the clocks and it has Brembo Brakes!!

Does anybody know if MZ made Mastiff's with Brembo brakes? You can see on the picture it surely has a brembo in the front and not a grimeca. Strange...

I think you will find that's the new "revised" version of the MZ Mastiff. They changed the colour and a couple of parts for the "new" versions i think...

that Mastiff has been fitted with 3spoke alloy wheels, and so removing the clearence issues we have with spokes/brake calipers. One way I think we can over come this problem is I once said at a bike show that I had fitted a R1 disk to the front to a EBC brake man, who after a check of his records said that there is a 320mm disk that has the same bolt pattern

R6 or R1 Disks are the same and the bolt pattern is exactly the same as MZ Baggy or Stiffy! :D I think you will find that the above Mastiff has indeed been modified for some strange reason! Looked into it and i can't find anywhere that sells an MZ like that!

The mastiff was available with cast alloy Grimeca wheels as a factory option. With this option you also got the 4 pot Brembo although the rear sadly remained a Grimreaper.

What Garf says is true. I fitted skorpion wheels to my Baghira, then ordered the caliper bracket for a mastiff with mag wheels (the part # is in the catalog) then bought a used brembo caliper off ebay for $40 and I was up and going. Much better braking than with the Grimecas.

I've just been looking into replacement brembo calipers, is the this the right one for the rear?
Goldline Rear - 20.6950.51 - £73.80 per caliper
Mounting Type: Lug 84mm
Body Type : 2 piece cast aluminium
Piston Type: 2x32mm aluminium
Inc Brake Pads: Yes, 107.6949.10
Typical fitments - Aprilia 2000 on also modern Ducati.

found it at http://www.pdq1.co.uk/brembo.htm#
Does that bolt straight on?

Can I fit a Brembo Goldline front caliper to a standard Mastiff without altering the disc or mounting points?
Now I think I've found a good motor for my bike I thought I might sort the brakes at the same time.

I too am STILL looking for a direct replacement caliper for my Mastiffs sad front brake.
The caliper off some bike has got to fit... but what bike?
I'm going to have to brake the bank to get the Harrison.

That's what I did - it's waaaaaay better than the standard set up. No comparison what so ever.

There's a thread on here about it if you do a search ;-)
